About the University As a specialist postgraduate university, Cranfield’s world-class expertise, large-scale facilities and unrivalled industry partnerships are creating leaders in technology and management globally. The forerunner of Cranfield University was the College of Aeronautics, created in 1946 and based at the RAF station in Cranfield, Bedfordshire. Through the 1950s and 1960s, the development of many aspects of aircraft research and design led to considerable growth and diversification into other areas such as manufacturing and management. In 1967, the School of Management was founded. In 1969, the College of Aeronautics became the Cranfield Institute of Technology, incorporated by Royal Charter with full degree-awarding powers. More recently, there has been further substantial progress, including an academic partnership with the Defence Academy, UK at Shrivenham in Wiltshire.

Oxford is a unique and historic institution. As the oldest university in the English-speaking world, it can lay claim to nine centuries of continuous existence. xford at a glance There are more than 26,000 students at Oxford, including 12,460 undergraduates and 13,755 postgraduates. Oxford has one of the lowest drop-out rates in the UK: figures published for 2019/20 academic year of entry by the Higher Education Statistics Agency show that only 0.9% of Oxford students dropped out, compared with a UK average of 5.3%. 93% of Oxford undergraduates and 95% of Oxford postgraduate leavers in 2020-2021 were in high-skilled employment or further study 15 months after leaving (Russell Group is 88% and 90% respectively). Median salaries are £32K and £35K respectively. Every year more than 15,000 students enrol on courses at Oxford Lifelong Learning, making Oxford University one of the largest providers of continuing education in the UK. The University of Oxford contributes around £16.9 billion to the UK economy, and supports more than 90,400 full time jobs. £445 million is generated by the University’s contribution to tourism, and £5 billion from the impact generated by the spending of the University and its colleges (2021/22). Postgraduate admissions and support Graduate students make up just over 50% of the total student body at Oxford. 37,713 graduate applications were received for entry in the academic year 2023-24. 11,726 applications (31.1%) were for graduate research degrees and 25,987 applications (68.9%) were for graduate taught degrees. For the 2023/24 academic year, the University expected to be able to offer around 1,000 full or partial graduate scholarships for new students.
